Level III - Certified Tutor

Level III tutor training synthesizes concepts developed in Level I and II and gives experienced tutors the opportunity to develop introductory management techniques while receiving additional training and assuming expanded responsibilities within the tutoring program.  

Student Learning Outcomes for Level III Certification:

  • Apply the skills, attitudes, and behaviors from Level 1 and 2 training.
  • Enhance tutoring program and tutor development using programmatic needs assessments.  
  • Select appropriate strategies and activities to promote tutee understanding based on current learning theory.
  • Incorporate content specific strategies to assist tutee success based on subject area.
  • Suggest and/or model study skills that promote tutee success.
  • Demonstrate supervisory skills and contribute to tutoring center operations. 

Level III tutor training is offered as an independent study focusing on topics relevant to the tutor鈥檚 center. Tutors have the option to craft presentations for Level I or II training, develop resources to be used in a tutoring center, create a smartphone application, write a research paper, and more.

Tutors will complete 5 hours of synchronous meetings with the trainer and at least 5 hours of independent research/activities to receive certification.
