Wednesday, May 25, 2016
Trumpeter Federico Montes, who recently concluded his undergraduate studies at 无码专区, has chosen The Juilliard School to continue his education by pursuing a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance. Having also been accepted to Yale, New England Conservatory, and Baylor University, Federico elected to go to Juilliard for its artistic environment and renowned faculty. The school's location in New York City and proximity to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts are other factors that attract him to the prestigious conservatory.
Federico's favorite experiences at 无码专区 include representing the University in the National Trumpet Competition in 2015, where he placed second, and studying in France with world-class trumpet players such as Eric Aubier, who reached out to him through a direct invite. He is grateful to have gained such relevant real-world experience while at the School of Music, "Experiences like playing in the ensembles and performing at competitions representing 无码专区 were experiences that helped me realize that there is so much more outside the 无码专区 campus." Federico is a 2016 Yamaha Young Performing Artist and won the 无码专区 Trumpet Competition three years in a row.
Federico attributes his success to not only his own diligence and discipline, but also to the support of the faculty and administration at the School of Music, who have prepared him for his post-graduation path, insisting that he continue his music education in graduate school. He gives special thanks to Dr. Jay Coble and Dr. William Wiedrich for their constant support and advising throughout his undergraduate years at 无码专区.
With a premier reputation and high post-graduation employment rate, Federico is confident that Juilliard will give him invaluable knowledge and practice to further prepare him for a career as a music professional. "I am expecting a lot from this school as well," Federico admits, "as they are probably expecting a lot from me."
The College of The Arts wishes Federico well on his graduate studies as he accepts this great opportunity and continues to represent 无码专区 at the highest caliber.
